The Irony That I Have My Own Crisis

If you’ve received any strange emails about me, I want to offer some clarity before we begin. I have been targeted by an individual I’ve never met, who was a fan of one of my past clients whom I haven’t worked with in years. This person has been sending empty and baseless threats, copying and pasting random paragraphs into emails that make little to no sense. She sends the same content daily to my contacts, 15 others associated with the public figure, and their contacts. Rest assured, these emails are not personal to you or anyone else—they are solely intended to provoke a reaction from me to meet her unrealistic demands. I have no idea how she finds the time for it—it would be impressive if it weren’t so damaging and creepy. Blocking the sender will stop the issue for you.

I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this has caused, and I want to assure you that I am actively working to resolve the situation. Thank you so much for your understanding. More details are below.

The Irony That I Have My Own Crisis

I’ve been navigating my own crisis (and I can see just how hilariously ironic that is). Recently, I’ve been dealing with a situation that feels like something straight out of Black Mirror and Baby Reindeer mixed. This all stems from my past association with a celebrity client, and since 26th July 2024, this individual has been harassing me daily. They’ve targeted over 15 people connected to that public figure, as well as all my contacts, every single day. It’s turned into an incredibly random, strange, and stressful nightmare I never could have anticipated.

In fact, in the time it’s taken me to write this post (about 30 minutes), I’ve received four more emails from her. That’s how relentless this harassment has become.

The Reality of Obsession

It all began one day when I received an email from someone I had never interacted with before. In fact, I had no idea who she was, but she was a fan of a former client I hadn’t worked with in years. I’ve since seen multiple photos of her at fan meet-and-greets as early as 2012, which added a strange and unsettling layer to the situation. The only reason I was targeted was because of my association with this celebrity, and because my email address had been left on his website for booking opportunities. I receive a lot of strange emails about public figures due to the nature of my work, so when I saw her first email, I initially thought it was another odd message and didn’t think much of it.

The one and only communication I've ever had with this individual

I politely replied after receiving quite a few more emails from her, hoping to put a stop to the weird behaviour, unknowingly realising that I had just escalated it to a whole new level. By responding, she got the attention she craved, and the harassment only intensified.

However, things quickly escalated when one of my clients reached out, understandably confused. They had received an email containing illegal allegations about me. This immediately flagged that something deeper and more concerning was going on. After that, I searched her name in my inbox and discovered over 30-40 emails from her, sent from multiple addresses and variations of her name, all sitting in my junk folder. I then realised she uses these variations to hide her real identity, which is tied to easily searchable court hearings. It became clear that this wasn’t just spam—this individual had thoroughly researched me, searched my website to find clients, scoured LinkedIn profiles, and even used software to locate individual business emails. I was creeped out by the extent of her efforts.

Thankfully, the client who reached out has known me for over three years and immediately recognised the claims as fake, but it raised a critical concern: who else might have received these messages and may not trust me as a result?

Her aim is clear—personal and professional harm. She is determined to destroy my life, and her efforts are relentless. What’s more concerning is that after fact-checking her many claims within her emails about her career, education, and public image, I’ve found most of them to be incredibly fabricated or false. She has even gone so far as to create fake screenshots of articles to include in emails, adding another layer to the harassment, which is unfortunately costing me in more ways than one.

Why Privacy Matters in PR

This entire ordeal highlights exactly why I keep all my PR clients private—both to protect them and to protect myself. If fans discover that a public figure has PR help or that a statement wasn’t written by the figure themselves, it can raise questions about their authenticity. In the world of celebrity, any hint of inauthenticity can damage trust, leaving them at risk of looking fake in the eyes of their audience.

On the other hand, keeping things private also protects those of us behind the scenes, like myself. Fans can often become obsessive, not just with the celebrity but with anyone associated with them, driven by jealousy or attachment. This situation shows how dangerous exposure can be—not just for public figures, but for the people working with them.

In this case, my email was listed on a contact page for a past client, where I helped with private bookings, not PR management. This unintended exposure is what led to the situation I find myself in now, highlighting exactly why I take such care to protect myself, employees and my clients from these kinds of risks.

What’s particularly frustrating is that she targeted many of my brand clients and past clients through my social media agency, Honest London, which is entirely separate from my crisis PR work. Honest London works with brands that have nothing to do with PR—just innocent businesses using our social media services. She’s tried to harass many of my brand clients to make them question me, but thankfully, they were able to see that her emails were far beyond anything truthful. They are fully aware of the situation and have since blocked her.

The best I can do right now is to ensure we’re not adding or updating any of our latest clients, and I’m also not promoting any speaking opportunities or new hires until this situation is fully resolved. The chaos she’s caused has already affected me professionally, but I’m committed to protecting the safety and peace of mind of everyone I work with.

The Challenge of Digital Harassment and Mental Health

One of the biggest challenges is that she’s located in Los Angeles while I’m based in the UK. Digital harassment knows no borders, and despite being in regular contact with authorities in both the UK and USA, the laws surrounding harassment and online threats still lag behind the technology. The internet connects us globally—but it also means crimes can happen on a global scale.

There are multiple ongoing investigations into her behaviour, involving not only myself but several others as well. I’ve been given crime reference numbers, and numerous reports have been filed by other individuals she’s targeted. The public figure she originally harassed even has a restraining order against her, yet still had to move back to his home country for his own safety due to her unpredictable behaviour.

The internet connects us globally—but so do crimes. It's time the law steps up to protect people, no matter where they are.

What makes the situation even more troubling is the complete lack of proper mental health care for individuals like her. It's clear that not only harassment laws need updating, but mental health care systems are completely inadequate in addressing these behaviours. It’s clear she’s struggling and unable to see that she needs help. I don’t expect her to be able to seek it on her own, and without proper intervention, the situation has continued to escalate in a damaging way.

Every day, I wake up to a flood of emails from her with new, increasingly erratic accusations and threats. Videos, fake article screenshots—everything is designed to intimidate me into meeting her unrealistic demands. She records herself speaking, slandering both my name and my agency’s name with the most disgusting and outrageous lies, and threatens to place these videos online. Worse, she plans to put paid advertisement behind them, asking, “Will your business survive?” It’s a form of blackmail—if I don’t comply with her demands, she claims she will post them.

On top of that, I usually wake up to 2 or 3 emails from my contacts—journalists, lecturers, employees, past employees, brands we’ve collaborated with, government officials, clients, past clients, and even people kind enough to just like one of my LinkedIn posts—asking me what these strange emails are about. Many of these contacts have been good to me and trusted me professionally, and it makes my stomach churn with guilt to hear them express anxiety and fear over the threats they’ve received from this person.

The hardest part is feeling completely powerless, knowing that the police have told me there’s nothing they can do. I’m stuck in limbo—putting parts of my business on hold to protect others, while dealing with daily abuse and threats. All of this because my email was left on a website.

What’s even more alarming is that her threats revolve around wanting me to publicly state that the multiple restraining orders against her are all based on lies, all so she can keep her U.S. O-1 talent visa. Obviously, I would never do that. I’ve even contacted multiple mental health charities to seek advice and help for her, but this situation continues to escalate.

It’s exhausting and surreal, and it has certainly taken a toll on my mental well-being.

A Call for Change

This isn’t just my personal battle—it’s a wake-up call. The digital age has made harassment borderless, and the law needs to catch up. Stronger protections for those targeted by online harassment are long overdue, and the gaps in mental health care for individuals like this only worsen the issue. While I have some empathy for her situation—it's clear she needs help—it’s devastating that nothing can be done legally to stop the harassment.

Despite reaching out to law enforcement in both the UK and USA, I was told there’s little they can do unless she physically arrives in the UK and that I would have to handle the situation myself. The police made it clear that much of the responsibility for blocking this type of harassment falls to social media platforms, email providers, or ISPs. Even if we block her Gmail, she’s proven she can create a new one within minutes, leaving me dealing with relentless daily attacks without immediate legal recourse—a frustrating reality of the digital world.

I’ve always had deep empathy for my clients, especially when they’re targeted online. I’ve logged into their social media accounts and seen the horrible messages they receive firsthand. But now, being on the receiving end of this myself, I fully understand just how soul-destroying it can be.

It’s clearer than ever that there has to be real change to how digital harassment is handled. Current laws and systems are just not enough to protect people from the damage that can be caused online.

If you’ve received an email from this individual about me, please block her and know that I am doing everything I can to resolve this. Thank you for your support as I navigate this situation—and hopefully, we can push for the change that’s so desperately needed.
